GT-24 and GT-30 Automatic Glasswasher Recall

Glastender, Inc. is voluntarily recalling GT-24 and GT-30 model automatic glasswashers due to a safety hazard.

Safety hazard
Under certain conditions, the relay can stick in the on position, bypassing the thermostat and keeping the heating element on. If this happens when the water is turned off to the machine, the heating element can melt the plastic curtains or conveyor deck creating a potential fire hazard.
Models included in the recall
The recall applies to Glastender GT-24 and GT-30 model rotary glasswashers manufactured June 1, 1990 and later with a perimeter-style heating element. Please note that the original foodservice equipment dealers are unable to process recall repairs. Remedy
Glastender, Inc. will contract with an independent service agent in your area to visit your establishment at a scheduled time to install an update. The update consists of a thermal limiting device which shuts off the heater in the event the relay sticks in the on position.
What should you do?
Locate the serial number of your glasswasher, which can be found on the data tag affixed to the switch panel, and submit a claim by contacting the Glastender factory directly at 989-754-1178 or by submitting a claim online.
What is the cost to you?
There is no charge for the safety update, but you will need to allow the service agent access to your establishment during business hours and the glasswasher will be inoperable while being serviced. The update is typically finished within 4 hours, but it could be up to 8 hours depending on how accessible the wash side of the glasswasher is in your installation.
How quickly can my unit be updated?
Arrangements will be made with a local service agent and the update usually takes place within 2 to 4 weeks of when the claim was submitted.
What should I do in the meantime, until my unit is updated?
Turn the power off to the machine when not in use by unplugging it from the electrical outlet or turning off the circuit breaker.
